Blog 6: The Associative Machine (Ch. 4)

In Chapter 4 of Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman, he talks about if you were to leave a letter out of a universal word that could make more than one word, like soup or soap, it could show what your mind jumps to and shows a little bit of your personality. Kahneman also shows that money shapes who we are, those who have/make more money are less willing to help others than the people that have/make less money.

People like to make puzzles of leaving letters out of words and seeing how many words you can make out of it or seeing which words you come up with. The money issue is also very common in society like in fancy restaurants. You see the upper class being rude to the waitress(es) because they think they are better due to the fact that they have more money and were probably raised differently.

In an article by Jacqueline Curtis entitled How Money Can Change People and Affect Their Behavior, it describes one of Kahneman’s key points in chapter 4 about how money can influence behavior and the way that people act. https://www.moneycrashers.com/money-changes-people-affect-behavior/
